1. When will I receive the baptism certificate?
You will receive it on the date of your child's baptism.
2. Can my child have two godmothers or two godfathers?
No. As per Canon Law, only one godparent can be male and one female.
3. Do I have to bring my own candle?
No, we will provide one for your child to be taken home with you after the baptism.
4. What is the fee for the baptism?
There is no fee for the baptism. A free will offertory envelope will be given to you on the day of the baptism -- if you would like to give a donation to the priest/deacon.
5. When are baptisms held?
We offer both a Baptism Ceremony with a short Liturgy of the Word as well as Baptisms within our weekend masses.
With a few exceptions, our Baptism Ceremony takes place on the first Saturday of the month at 1:00pm or Sunday of the month at 2:30pm; and the Baptisms within our weekend Masses usually take place on the last weekend of the month.
6. How many children will be baptized with my child?
There may be up to 10 children baptized during each ceremony outside of Mass. At the baptisms within our weekend masses, there will only be 2 children baptized.
7. What if I have not been registered with Holy Spirit for 3 months and I do not live within the boundaries?
We invite you to register with our parish and worship with us for 3 months. After the 3 month time period, you may begin the process for baptism.
We are so glad that you have decided to have your child
baptized into the Catholic Church!
At Holy Spirit, we are here to welcome and support you as you prepare to
celebrate the beautiful Sacrament of Baptism of your child.
Parent:
When filling out the form, please make sure to choose a Baptism Preparation Class and have both parents and godparents fill out the class registration below (Step 3).
Parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Class. You can sign up for a Baptism Preparation Class by clicking here. The baptism class takes place once a month in the Parish Life Center on our campus. If the godparents do not live in Las Vegas, they do not have to take the Baptism Preparation Class at Holy Spirit, but must follow the regulations of their home parish.
In addition to the Baptism Preparation Class, the godparents are required to complete the Godparent Affidavit. If the godparent lives outside of Las Vegas, the godparent must take the affidavit to their parish to have the bottom of the affidavit completed.
*Christian Witnesses are not required to complete the Godparent Affidavit*
Once we have received the Baptism Registration Form, you have completed the Baptism Preparation Class and the Godparent Affidavits, we will reach out to you to schedule a Baptism date.
We offer both a Baptism Ceremony with a short Liturgy of the Word as well as Baptisms within our weekend Masses.
With a few exceptions, our Baptism Ceremony takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 2:30pm.
Baptisms within our weekend Masses take place on the last weekend of the month.
